Douro Wine & Stars
The first and only night-time experience available for the Douro Valley.
The Experience begins in the afternoon when we meet in Porto. We will descend to the village of Pinhão, where we will embark on a 1h cruise upstream. From the river, we will be able to gaze upon the vastness of the great vineyards of the Douro Valley.
After the cruise, we will follow the N222 road – said to be the best driving road in the world – to a vineyard for a Porto wine tasting and learn a bit about the secrets behind these wonderful wines.
Afterwards, we will have dinner at another fabulous estate where local products are the heroes of the dish.
After dinner is when the magic starts: we will drive to the top of the hills, where a telescope will be set up. As our eyes adjust to the darkness, a brief explanation will be given regarding these optical instruments.
On a clear and typical summer night, we will be able to observe Jupiter and its Galilean Moons, Saturn and its rings, Mars and Venus, and discern some Moon features. We will be able to also see satellites passing over us, some important stars, and point towards some constellations*.
Once the observation session is over, we will head back to Porto, in the comfort of the Tesla.

This private instance includes everything in the regular experience, with vehicle exclusivity and a dedicated driver/guide with you for the day.
Additional options are available when booking.
Option to stay for the night at the Douro Valley & resume the tour the next day, with transfer back to Porto or other destination.

Bookings are accepted until: 24h before Experience debuts.
The itinerary can be adjusted accoding to the seasons and in order to better suit our timetable.
No equipment required but you are welcome to bring your own (Camera, tripod, binoculars, telescope…)
*The visible night sky objects depend on the season and phase of the moon.
In case of unfavourable weather, we will perform the Douro Valley, at no extra cost.
